Day 7-Friday, October 21, 2005-The Magic Kingdom & EPCOT-We woke up this early this morning to eat a character breakfast at Polynesian Resort’s Ohana Restaurant. We hopped a bus and a monorail to see Aloha Mickey, Pluto, Lilo & Stitch. We stayed up late last night at EPCOT, so Kailey was a sleepyhead during breakfast. We had a delicious family-style breakfast, including eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, Mickey Mouse waffles, biscuits, pineapple bread (yummy!), and fresh fruit (pineapple, melon, cantaloupe, and grapes.) Mickey hugged Kara and Pluto worried Kara (she had a flashback to the Garden Grill on Tuesday where Pluto ate her head.) Lilo & Stitch signed Kara’s autograph book and posed for pictures. Kailey woke up at the end and actually smiled at Stitch. After breakfast [$60 DDP], we toured the Polynesian Resort where I stayed as a kid, and Kailey wanted an Aloha Stitch stuffed animal. We happily purchased the only character that didn’t make Kailey cry. We decided to return to the Magic Kingdom on a boat shuttle. While we waited, we saw the pool I swam in when I was younger. To my disappointment, the waterfall slide was not working. Disney really needs to repair that slide-it was so fun! Kailey was well-behaved on the boat, and we entered the Magic Kingdom in search of characters that had not yet signed the girls autograph books. We found many characters at the Toontown Hall. Both girls waited to see Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck & Goofy, but Kailey got scared so while Kara waited in line to see the Disney Princesses, Kailey and I went to get something to drink, buy an Eeyore shirt, and play at Pooh’s Playhouse. Kara spoke & posed with Princesses Snow White (my, my, my), Aurora, and Cinderella. After Kara & Daddy joined us, we obtained fast passes for Thunder Mountain and headed over to wait for the motorized raft launch to Tom Sawyer’s Island. It was a rugged trail of steep hills and steps that I did not care for (it was an extremely hot and humid day), so we stood in line again with a screaming Kailey for the launch back. [I have to interject another experience here. When Kailey is upset in public, I can usually calm her or remove her from the situation. However, the only way to get out of this was to wait in line no more than 5 minutes for the ferry. There was nowhere else to go. So, this nice gentleman (read sarcasm here) in front of us turned around and glared at us, and so did his preteen kids. I was irritated at this point, especially since people who come to a kid-friendly place are so unfriendly, so I said to Raymond, "I guess people haven’t seen a crying baby before-at Disney World. The look the guy shot me after that would have had me dead on the spot if looks could kill. I can’t stand people like that! So I shot him a look right back. He wasn’t going to intimidate me. What was I supposed to do, cover her mouth???? There was nowhere else to go. As soon as we got on the raft (as far away from him as possible), everything was fine. Kailey was happy and that was the end of it. People are idiots.] After that experience, Daddy rode Thunder Mountain and I was not in the mood for a ride. The girls were content while we waited for Daddy. I had gotten Kailey some chicken nuggets earlier since she didn’t eat much at breakfast, and when we got back to the stroller we noticed birds had taken all of her chicken from her tray and the bottom of the stroller, and some ducks in the water were eating the remnants. That was funny. We then strolled through a gift shop and met up with Raymond, and then we went back to the resort for a quick swim. Kara and I tried out the bowling ball-shaped pool while Daddy & Kailey splashed in the kiddie pool. After changing into our dinner clothes, we took a bus to EPCOT and ate at a Japanese steakhouse. The chef was very entertaining, but Kara didn’t like the food. Kailey slept through dinner. It rained while we ate, and the crowd cleared out a little. We got the kids maracas from Mexico (EPCOT’s World Showcase-just like the maraca I bought on my first trip when I was eleven) and Kara asked for a ball from the future section of EPCOT; so, we purchased a medium-sized Mickey balloon ball. Kara & I then rode the Norwegian boat ride while Daddy held Kailey. Then Kara & Daddy rode Spaceship Earth for a second time while Kailey & I returned to our room to rest my weary feet. It has been a very exciting, exhausting trip, but one I will treasure forever. Thanks for sharing our week with us! The drive home went well, by the way.
