Day 1--Saturday, October 15, 2005--It was a bright and sunny day in Florida. We arrived at the Pop Century Resort to find a luxurious, fun-filled, action-packed home away from home. After unloading the van, we hopped a bus to the Magic Kingdom. The kids got to meet Mickey Mouse, take a ride into the future on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, and see Cinderella celebrate her coronation. Kailey was tuckered out after eating lunch at the Cosmic Rays Cafe ($38 for free using Disney's meal plan. Let me explan--we chose to prepay $500 for the Disney Dining Plan, which gives us 1 snack, 1 counter sevice meal [fast food type], and 1 dinner per person, per day. We ended up using about $900 worth of meals, so that's why I'm going on and on about it. It was nice to be able to order anything we wanted without considering how much it cost.) We went back to the hotel and Mommy & Kara went swimming in the 60's flower-shaped pool. Kara is such a great swimmer! Daddy got a chance to swim with Kara in the bowling-ball shaped pool, and Kailey was still sleeping! Finally, Kara and Daddy went back to the Magic Kingdom to catch the Fireworks display at Cinderella's Castle, and Mommy and Kailey took a walk around the resort. The lake is so beautiful! Kailey got a ball and a Cinderella cell phone at the Pop Century Emporium. Daddy came back with a sleeping Kara after they also watched the Spectro-Magic Parade (where Kara got a glowing pink rose). Disney is a magical place. Kara's favorite thing about our first day is, "watching the parade and getting my rose."
